The defending champions Mumbai Indians are at the verge of losing their opportunity to play in the playoffs of the IPL 2021. The second phase of the famous IPL 2021 resumed at UAE and teams are giving their best to take the top 4 positions in the points table. However this second phase is so far not a good game for Mumbai Indians.
The five time champions unfortunately had to play 5 games in the grueling Chennai pitch. This year during the first phase many teams has felt the grueling effect of the Chennai pitch. As a result Mumbai having assigned Chennai as the home pitch due to the COVID restriction they are forced to play more games in Chennai pitch.
This was tough season for MI as they are forced to take Chennai as their home turf, MI faulted in many games they played in the Chennai pitch. As a result they didn’t get the required points to stay at the top of the table. After resuming of IPL 2021 in UAE, still MI is having issues to score the win.
Currently MI has to win all the remaining games in order to qualify for the playoffs smoothly. This situation is not an alien for MI as they have go to playoffs in such manner many times and even have won the title from this position. The Rohit Sharma lead MI is not out of the competition unless they themselves say so.
