ICC Under-19 World Cup-2022:
The ICC Under-19 World Cup-2022 is a fourteenth edition of Under-19 Cricket World Cup tournament. It is an international limited-overs (50 overs) or ODI cricket tournament. The West Indies will be hosting the tournament, which begins on January 14th-2022 and ends on February 05th-2022. Bangladesh is the defending champions of last season-2021.

ICC U-19 World Cup-2022 – Teams and Venues:
Sixteen teams will participate in the tournament, which will be played in four venues i.e., Antigua, Guyana, Saint Kitts and Trinidad. The final match will be played at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
A total of 16 teams were split into four groups. Each group has 4 teams.
Group A – England U-19, Bangladesh U-19, United Arab Emirates U-19 and Canada U-19
Group B – India U-19, South Africa U-19, Ireland U-19 and Uganda U-19
Group C – Pakistan U-19, Afghanistan U-19, Zimbabwe U-19 and Papua New Guinea U-19
Group D – Sri Lanka U-19, Australia U-19, West Indies U-19 and Scotland U-19
India Team Position in ICC U-19 World Cup-2022:
India Undet-19 team belongs to Group-B. It holds the first position in the league standings of Group-B, with 6 points in their account. They played total of 3 group-stage matches, in which they have won all the 3 matches.

- India Under-19 team played their first Group Stage match against South Africa U-19 on January 15th, in which India U-19 has won the match by 45 runs.
- They played their second match in Group-B against Ireland U-19 on January 19th, in which IND U-19 team has won the match by 174 runs.

Raj Bawa –A Highest Individual scorer in ICC U-19 World Cup-2022:
On January 22nd-2022 (Saturday), India registered their biggest victory by runs in the ICC U-19 World Cup after defeating Uganda by 326 runs at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. India U-19 team has scored 405 runs out of 50 overs in the first innings of the match, with 5 wickets left to spare – which is the highest total in this season. Uganda U-19 team has scored 79 runs only out of 19.4 overs, with no wickets left to spare.
Raj Bawa and Angkrish Raghuvanshi were the star performers for the Indian team in the match. Both the batters scored tons and added 206 runs for the third wicket which is India’s highest in the tournament. Raghuvanshi scored 144 runs from 120 balls while, Bawa remained unbeaten on 162 runs from 108 balls. Raghuvanshi smashes 22 fours and 4 sixes. Now, Raj Bawa holds the record for the highest individual score by an Indian in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. He is 19-year-old, left-handed batsman and left-arm fast-medium bowler. He smashed 14 fours and 8 sixes in his 162-run impressive knock at a strike rate of 150.

At the post match presentation, Bawa said that former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is his idol.
Raj Bawa said at post-match presentation, “I am very happy. I want to contribute in both forms of the game. I have met Yuvraj Singh who is my idol and have taken autographs”.
Raj Bawa Surpasses Shikhar Dhawan’s Record:
Raj Bawa played an unbeaten knock of 162 runs which came of just 108 balls. The unbeaten knock helped him register the highest individual score by an Indian batter in the U-19 World Cup. The record at the U-19 Cricket World Cup was earlier held by current India opener Shikhar Dhawan who had scored 155 runs in the 2004 edition of the tournament against Scotland in Dhaka.

Overall, Raj Bawa score is the eighth-highest individual score in U19 World Cups with Sri Lanka’s H Boyagoda still leading the list with his knock of 191 against Kenya in the previous edition of the tournament.
Earlier in the same game, opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi had threatened to break Shikhar Dhawan’s record but was eventually dismissed for 144, which is now the fourth-highest score for India after Shikhar Dhawan’s 146 against Sri Lanka in Dhaka during the 2004 U-19 World Cup.
