Early life cricketing career
Punam Raut has a passion for cricket and wants to pursue it as a full-time carrier. Her father’s name is Ganesh Raut, and he was a car driver. The family had limited resources only. Her father dreamed of becoming a cricketer but could not pursue his passion. So, her father was significant support for her to become a cricketer. Her family can’t afford to pay for her love. But, her father got help from his American boss. His boss gave him Rs. 10,000, a significant amount then.

At 12, Punam Raut was selected and made her debut in the U-14 and U-19 team trial match in 2004. She also played for Mumbai women, Indian Railways women, India Green Women, and India Women teams in domestic cricket. In the domestic season of 2012-13, she scored 840 runs in 16 matches at an average of more than 150, which included eight half-centuries and two centuries. In 2016-17, she also led her Railways one-day domestic match. Punam gave the best series performance in the 2017 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. In the world cup series, she played some of the most consistent scores of her career. In the first match against England, she scored 86 runs. Her best score of the world cup tournament against Australia, in which she scored 106 runs. In the World Cup final match, she scored 86 runs against England. But, India’s women’s team lost their last world cup match against England by nine runs.
In May 2021, she was named to the Indian women’s Test squad for their one-off match against the England women’s cricket team.
